H.L. (Homer) Fleeman, Sr.

(1906-2000)

Homer was born in Kramer, GA. As a young man, he ventured to Texas where he met and married Lillian Barnhart in 1932. In 1943, the family, now including sons Leroy (H.L., Jr.) and Bill, moved to Arkansas. Homer certainly knew what hard times were, but he worked hard and became a successful businessman. He owned and operated the Food Town stores and the Hi-Way Host Inn. He served on the commission to build the Pea Ridge Military Park. He was also in the group of local businessmen who got the original (St. Mary’s) Mercy Hospital constructed. Homer had a heart for anyone less fortunate than himself. He passed away November 3, 2000.
