James Roy “Jim” Eaton (1949-1998)
Jim was a Warren County, TN native and a San Diego, CA resident where he lived the last 19 years of his life. He retired after 26 years in the United States Navy with the rank of Lieutenant. He had a distinguished naval career receiving the Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Overseas Service Ribbon, two National Defense Service Medals, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, the Navy Achievement Medal, and three Good Conduct Medals. Jim had a real passion for his family, the Navy and baseball. Jim loved baseball as a young boy, a love that continued throughout his life. He coached his sons and many others. Jim was also a coach for the San Diego Men’s Senior Baseball League, with his team winning the Men’s Senior World Series Championship in both 1992 and 1997, an accomplishment recognized in San Diego’s Hall of Champions. As a teenager, Jim earned the rank of Eagle from the Boy Scouts of America. He earned an Associate’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Chapman College in Orange, CA. Jim was married to Deborah Haas Eaton and had three sons, Seth Eaton, Joseph Eaton and Adam Eaton.
